Come 2020 and you will be able to drive to Patna from the capital city of New Delhi in just 11 hours. This is a good 7 hours less than what it takes today. The cut down will be possible thanks to two new ambitious project. The new route will pass through Lucknow and Ghazipur.
NHAI or National Highway Authority of India will soon start work on the proposed Purvachal Expressway that will connect Lucknow with Ghazipur. The second project will be the 180km long Patna-Ghazipur Expressway : this part already has a working four lane section between Patna and Buxar.
Once completed, you will be able to easily cruise from Delhi starting with the Yamuna Expressway, followed by the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvachal Expressway and finally the Ghazipur – Patna Expressway. The 1050km route currently takes about 17-18 hours and the same is expected to come down to 11 in three years time.
As per a report on Economic Times, the Agra-Lucknow Expressway is fast gaining popularity. Over 32000 vehicles used this Expressway during the Diwali rush. When completed, the 350km Purvachal Expressway connecting Lucknow and Ghazipur will be the longest one in India.
