Mahindra first premium MPV will be launched in India next year. To be also showcased at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo, the company has code-named this the U321 and is testing it back to back with the segment leader Toyota Innova Crysta.
Mahindra’s current ticket in the Rs 12-18 lakh segment comes in the form of the XUV5OO but the U321 will be purely meant for family usage – more space, better comfort and different positioning. It will be offered with both a diesel and a petrol engine and its safe to say, it will carry over the XUV’s automatic gearbox as well.
IAB had rendered the U321 sometime back and this is how it looks:
The Mahindra U321 will be front wheel driven and will have a monocoque chassis. It will get inputs from Mahindra’s North American Technical Center in Michigan. Needless to say, the U321 will be exported from India and price wise, could sit between the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta.
