The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been in the news for various reasons – good and bad. While the updated / trouble free BS-IV version was launched a while back, the bike still lacks ABS or Anti-Lock Braking System for the Indian market.
According to a recent report on Cartoq, production of the ABS version has finally started but hold on, surprise surprise – these models are not for India but for Europe where every motorcycle sold needs to have ABS as standard. Its a shame that the same rules don’t apply in India and hence the company has not taken effort to launch the ABS equipped Himalayan here.
Cartoq spoke to a French dealer (Tendance Roadster) and they indeed confirmed that the Euro-spec Himalayan will have ABS. In fact, the first batch of Himalayans with ABS are already on their way to Europe.
The updated Himalayan comes with fuel injection which has improved throttle response, reduced emissions and bumped up the economy slightly. The company is also confident that this updated bike is trouble free – we hope the same!
In the meantime, here is a quick video of the Himalayan with the official after-market exhaust
